Tell us about yourself and how you got into writing:

I got into writing when I got injured and quit MMA. I’ve always been a DM for tabletop role-playing games and thought I should share my stories with more than my six players.

Tell us about your stories:

I started out two years ago writing horror short stories, but recently have focused on my Science Fantasy series of novels. Struck a four book deal with an Indie/Hybrid publisher and the first book releases in three weeks. I tell people its like Robotech meets Final Fantasy. 🙂

What kind of success have you had?

I try hard to only measure my success by comparing myself today to myself yesterday. My favorite ‘win’ is having a reader talk to me about a story or character I’ve written. Sharing that.

Tell us about your writing process?

It took awhile, but I’ve finally figured out how to just write first, edit later. I spend every day by drinking a cup of coffee with my wife, walking the dogs, then go upstairs to my study and work till dinner time. I never work on marketing on days I’m writing. Separating those is key for me.

Give us an insight into a time you wrote a scene with feeling.

More often than not, it’s the scenes that have their genesis in some emotional event or trauma I’ve experienced in real life. Heartbreak and regret that I managed to work through by writing characters and scenes that go through the same thing. I suppose, in a way, it is like self-therapy.

I write as a hobby, but a hobby I take very seriously, and hope to keep writing into retirement. I only wish I could write more, faster, so many stories left to tell.
